to seize the means of perception
This group is not about memorizing some spiritually sanitized, state sanctioned meaning behind each card. It is about using the symbolic storytelling of the major arcana to go inward and return with a stronger relationship to your higher self. Five weeks along the Fool's road, from the leaving to the return — the map is not the territory. You are. Your own images, associations, and discomforts are the actual material of this group.
What you are seeking is also seeking you. We begin by conjuring the spirit of that one thing — restlessness, unrealized futures, that one specific dream — and carve out space for the potential that won't stop calling.
The invisible walls, for better or worse. We map the scripts handed down by family, church, and empire — and start telling apart what we carry from what we simply never let go of.
The liminal space where the old you and the new you haven't yet met. We sit in the in-between together — messy and undefined, in solidarity with the group rather than confronted by it.
The underworld portion of the story. We lovingly approach the bitterness we keep swallowing — grief, rage, systemic harm — and practice metabolizing it for the sake of our body and mind.
The integration of our journey, reflected back with new clarity. We close by asking what it means to carry what we found back into ordinary life — and keep it alive past the last session.
Pre-Licensed Counselor Intern
Facilitated as part of ongoing supervised clinical practicum training, drawing on original research into the Fool's Journey — Jungian, somatic, and liberation-informed, built on van Gennep and Turner's work on rites of passage. Each week includes a companion workbook page: not a record of what you were taught, but of what you noticed.
